X-Men: Days of Future Past just got back!

I'm totally biased here – because X-Men are my favorite super heroes and Wolverine is my favorite X-Men team member.  But this film is really, really good.

Summer movie time is here and I see all the big blockbusters basically the day they come out.  If I like it, I'll probably post about it here.

But do be aware that I give a wide berth to these summer blockbusters from my criticism.  I am well aware of what they are and what they are trying to do.  But I enjoy them all the more for it.  This one had some meat, though.  It also had some real peril and some really good moments.   And don't forget to wait out the credits — the end scene at the end of them is a nice big payoff :D

  1. Excellent movie and the teaser set up for the next movie will be a big hit with Marvel fans!!!  By the way, it looks like Peter Cushing is Magneto in that image above, "We will deal with your R-r-r-r-rebel friends soon enough."

  2. I fully expected this movie was going to be a hot mess. I was pretty blown away at how good it really was. MacAvoy and Fassbender I think do a great job of portraying the relationship between the professor and Magneto.

  3. I so hope that this holds up.  I want an awesome x-men movie!  And if they get this one down, maybe they won't screw up En Sabah Nur's story, which I'm totally looking forward to in 2016…Apocalypse FTW!

  4. Could of had more action imo but it was still a good movie…no real x-planation to y professor x is still alive after jean killed him and why wolverine has metal claws again. ..im guessing magneto did it for him and Charles had a twin brother in a coma that he put his consciousness in….loved it when wolverine woke up at the end in the x mansion

  5. I'm very biased when it comes to the X-Men movies. I read the comics from 125 up to the 250's and I can't help but feel cheated by every version so far. It makes me hesitate even on this one despite reviews. The same holds for the Avengers.

  6. I look at all the Fox movies as alternate versions of the superheroes I know and love. They bear a striking similarity to the canon characters, but exist in an alternate reality where the Avengers don't exist.

  7. As you know I am not a fan of the countless comic adaptions. But I like the X-Men movies, too. And Wolverine, of course! :) I think the X-Men have the strongest characters. Avengers and Spiderman make me cringe at times. I liked Cyclops the most when I was young, when I grew older I found him rather bland and developed a fancy for other X-Men, mostly Jean Grey and Wolverine. I never read many X-Men comics and never really noticed Magneto as anything but the villain, in the movies I like him a lot though. I also really like Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard and Professor X.

  8. That's because Wolverine is a Sassy Bastard™ – similar in the way I love, love, love Hellboy.   Snarky strong badasses FTW.

+Stewart Gee Do you not look at the clips that are at the end of the credits?  He was never gone, not really :D   But yeah, this film ties up the loose ends of the previous non First Class films.  It's good.

Also; anyone claiming "not enough action" needs more brain cells to rub together ><  If you want brainless action, watch Transformers or anything by Michael Bay/Roland Emmerich.

  9. Yeah, I always watch the post-credit clips, and knew he wasn't completely gone. Someone's comment above had made it sound like they didn't explain his return sufficiently, but I probably misread. :)
